Our Fabric Care Advice

Care Instructions for our fabrics. Read about how to care for your fabrics

Our fabrics are not pre-washed. Some quilters like to pre-wash all of their fabrics before sewing to ensure there is no chance of shrinkage or colour bleeding. For best results, we do recommend pre-washing your fabric. Line-drying is also recommended to eliminate any chance of distortion from running it through the dryer.

We Recommend:

  • MACHINE WASH COLD
  • MILD DETERGENT
  • GENTLE CYCLE
  • DO NOT BLEACH
  • LINE DRY OR TUMBLE DRY LOW (REMOVE PROMPTLY)
  • WARM IRON IF NEEDED

More Tips on Washing Cottons:

  • Before machine washing, prepare any raw edges to stop fraying. Do this by trimming the raw edges with pinking shears or a pinking blade.
  • When washing, use a gentle fragrance-free, neutral detergent on a gentle cycle with cold water.
  • Purchase 5-10% extra fabric to allow for shrinkage when pre-washing
  • To catch any possible colour bleeding, add several colour catchers into your wash cycle.
  • Don't wash precuts before sewing, there is a chance they will shrink and no longer be perfectly square or the right size for your pattern
  • Wash light colours separate to darker colour fabrics

Tips on Washing Cottons with Metallic

  • When washing, use a non-chlorine bleach on a gentle cycle with cold water. Machine wash with like colours.
  • Metallic might be removed in case of strong tumble dry - In this case, it's recommended to flat or line dry.
  • Cool Iron if needed.

Tips on Washing Linens:

  • Similar to the cottons, wash linens on low temperatures.
  • Use a gentle machine cycle and soft detergent.
  • Stick to low temperatures when machine drying. Remove from dryer when still slightly damp and hang dry to avoid linen drying stiff and to soften any creases.
  • Machine drying is not recommended as it can leave permanent creases.
  • Use a hot iron while the linens are still slightly damp if you want to press your linens.
  • Wash light colours separate to darker colour fabrics
